Catch-up Feb/early March

Yet again, I haven't written anything new in a while. I have to be honest and actually tell you that lolita fashion has not been on my mind 'a lot' recently, even though I wore it several times last month. In January I wrote that one of my goals was to not buy new things, or either sell things and, well I bought new things, and sold other dresses, and still I kind of feel 'meh' about wearing it lately. It didn't really help either that both packages got lost. The first one got here 1,5 month later, the second one (not from Japan, but from the US) is still lost T_T. Feels like I'm cursed.
I planned several new coords in my bullet journal and managed to wear some of them, but it did not feel the same somehow, it was more 'doing what I had in mind' than 'yay let's wear lolita to be happy'.
Maybe it was also just the cold outside (I'm really happy it became Spring now, but we had weeks of really freezing cold temperatures and all I wanted to do is stay inside. But yeah, maybe I'm just getting bored with it, who knows. However, I did manage to wear it for several occassions, so here are some coords (or parts of it).

First off: we had a meet at the local cat cafe again, and I mixed my milky planet yellow with some lavender and pink things, I'm honestly really happy with this coord, I love the colors. That star in my hair was a gift I got when I bought the Sugar Dream Dome skirt, I thought it would work with Milky Planet as well! The cats at the cafe were really cute and it was nice sitting and chatting there!

Then some casual outfits (more Otome-kei like) I wore on some days off. I actually don't mind not wearing a petticoat everytime. It's a lot more convenient when you are at home sitting on the couch for example, or when you need to visit a busy place. That and I don't need that poof all the time for just daily use (I don't have a petticoat that gives an in-between/small poof either).

And it took a while, but I finally wore the cape I made last winter. I was waiting for a snowy sunny day but it didn't came and so I just wore it on another cold day. I had this coord in mind for a while so I'm happy I could finally wear it. I also finished sewing a jumperskirt with the fabric I bought in japan. I also made an overskirt for it in plain pink chiffon which I hope to wear soon.

Last week I met up with two lolita friends. With Eveline I did some resin crafting, which was a lot of fun doing together! We forgot to make outfit pictures, but I managed to make some snaps that morning so not all is lost. I wore my Lucky Star Dreamland jsk with the yellow AP cardigan I just got in and the easter/bunny socks. I really like this cardigan, it's comfy and perfect fit for the waist-height of lolita dresses (to me at least), I should have bought one sooner.

And then lastly, I met up with Nienke, who I hadn't seen in a long while. I took the chance to wear my new Wondery Story jsk with a fairly standard coord I'd say, but it works nonetheless.
That card-ring from AP I bought from Yvette, a lolita friend who lives in my own city, I'm glad I could buy it from her, suits the coord perfectly don't you think? The resin necklace I had made at Eveline's place, I could use some embellishments from her <3.

With Nienke I shared some yummy cupcakes that her partner made and we chatted the afternoon away! Then yesterday I hadn't anything planned (just chilling with my husband, which is perfect for a Sunday, right ^_^ !), so I took the opportunity to wear my Tartan Love JSK again. Maybe not the most versatile of dresses, but sure is easy to wear and a good match for a rainy day I guess.
That said, I'm still not feeling that same spark I had anymore with lolita fashion. I kind of feel like it's time for something new in my life(?). Whenever I feel that, I have the habit to want to get rid of old things. I'm not saying I'm suddenly going to sell all of my dresses (I'd probably keep some of my handmade ones anyway), but yeah I've just been focussing more on the future or at least on 'something else', so that's why I haven't written new lolita-related blogposts, I don't want to force myself too much. Do you know this feeling too? If so, what did you do with it?
My husband and I have done double driving lessons per week (haha, there goes the money), and I've been studying for the theory exam as well (which is planned next month), I'm super-duper looking forward to having a car at this moment, because more and more I feel like I'm keeping myself from doing what I like and need in my free time (like, hiking/walking in nature/parks etc. or going somewhere just because I feel like it and NOT depend on public transport and the stress that comes with it. But yeah it probably will still take a while before we can officially drive.
In other new: we have another vacation planned to Japan. Yep! But this time, suprise surprise, my best friend and her partner are coming with us, which I think is superduper awesome :D, I'm so stoked for it, but we have to wait until Autumn. Last time we said we probably wouldn't visit Japan anytime soon, but then we looked at other places to visit and still thought "hmm..but we could also go to Japan". We hope to plan more daytrips outside of Tokyo/Osaka, and plan to visit Hiroshima too this time. I can't wait for our new adventure ^_^ !

Okay, that was it for the update. Thanks for reading and see you next time!

Catch-up January '18

Hello hello, this month is almost over already so I'd thought it would be a good time to post my lolita updates from January.
Actually I didn't wear a lot of lolita fashion, not as much as I'd liked because January is a busy month where our students round up the 2nd semester and next to that I started with a new illustration job so yeah I am a busy person at the moment. Nonetheless, I still hope to wear more lolita fashion coming months, due to the fact that I only teach one course (next to some other student supervision/counselling things) so yeah, hope that will work out. I think though that I'm not the only person not wearing lolita a lot in this month. It's so cold so you'd rather just wear fuzzy sweaters and sit on the couch (which I also did ;) ), I can't wait for more spring-like weather!

Technically I didn't post the coord I wore on Dec. 31, so yeah still 2017. I wanted to wear something to celebrate New Year's eve, with a lot of sparkles!
I wore a casual hooded shirt with it that I've sewn myself a while back, and the navy AP ribbon otk's that are apparently not that high, but I think they looked great in this coord anyway. I also polished my nails and thought some cute stars on them would be nice!
Well, this was the last time I wore the Constellations And The Stars of Confeito JSK, because I planned to sell this dress. I know it was one of my dreamdresses, but after wearing it multiple times I kind of just got uninspired with coordinations with it and as said in my 2018 goals blogpost, I want to refresh my wardrobe a bit without spending too much money so selling was the go-to option. More about new purchases later!
Then some weeks later I had a day off and decided I wanted to wear my Bubbly Jelly Sea JSK, because I haven't worn it in such a long time while, this was due to some damage it got when I traveled back from Under the Sea in Amsterdam (that sunday a bottle of hairspray broke in my husbands bag and  got all over it, so the lining got all wrinkled and weird, I fixed it slightly by cutting it on one side, but you can't see it because it's under the dress anyway). I wore the jellies in a casual way with some boots (because winter). Next time I want to try wearing light-blue with it instead of darker colors.
Our stranded train
And the day after that we had a sweet lolita meet up in Gouda (yes, you might know it from the cheese), and well this was quite an adventure. The train that I took together with another lolita, broke down just before the first big city where we had to transfer to another train to Gouda. Living all the way in Groningen, I am always afraid to have some kind of delay but it usually doesn't happen so I guess this day was the statistical compensation T_T but yeah it was kind of interesting, we had to get out of the train, sit in a bus to Zwolle and there wait for the other train which was also delayed because of our original train, haha.

But we got there in the end, had some tea and sweets/pastries at a very cute cafe and took a lot of supercute and fun photos so I'm glad I still got to go. However, I really don't want to live too long in Groningen anymore, I'm really fed-up with always travelling this much if I want to go somewhere.
So for my coord (below) I felt like wearing Sugar Dream Dome skirt again, as it is winter-themed and even though there are presents on it, I felt like wearing it again because I'm still happy I bought it and I really wanted to wear it with the necklace I made! This time I wore my white bolero on top of my pink Angelic Pretty blouse. And hey, I finally used the big bow for it as well that came with this blouse. It also has golden and shimmery accents so I felt it was a perfect match ♥.

Well, for the further wardrobe updates, I had hoped that to tell that there came a package, but it didn't get here. My shopping service posted it on Thursday Jan. 18, so I expected it from Wednesday 24 on, but still isn't here. I mailed them but they tried to explain something that has to do with SAI, but I used EMS so that has nothing to do with it. I asked on our Dutch lolita page and some people said it could take two weeks, which is in my opinion too long for EMS, but yeah there also has been snowfall in Tokyo, so I have to still be patient for some days. I hope nothing went wrong with it :(.

Anyway, what I am waiting for is some smaller items plus a jumperskirt. I've been watching the cardigan and necklace in December but decided to wait with buying it (because December is already such an expensive month), but I kept going back to it so on new year's day I decided to buy them anyway. The necklace was actually a wishlist item, I find this bunny so very cute and I think it fits well in my wardrobe. The cardigan is a good match with a lot of my pastel items too and I've been wearing lolita fashion more casually with cardigans so I think it's a good addition for variety.
And this is the jumperskirt I'm waiting for, it's Wonder Story (collared version) from Angelic Pretty. I've always liked this print, but it is quite rare to find (or at least for a decent price), so I was really surprised to find it and couldn't help myself ^^; (so yes that's why I'm selling other dresses). I really love the Alice theme of it, yet still not super-out there, I love the combination of books, cards, tea and bunnies . And I think this shade of red is also quite nice, it fits better with white and has a more pink hue to it. I'm very curious to see all the detail in person. But yeah, let's hope my package comes here soon. In the meantime I'm planning some things out to make a dress with the bunny-fabric I bought in Japan last year, but I'm not super inspired and don't know what kind of model/cut I should make so I should give that some attention I guess.

Well, hope you liked the updates and I hope you had a good (or better) January and see you next time, byebye!

Christmas 2017 blog #4: Merry days

Oh no, I'm late with the last christmas blogpost, but that is what happens when you only have three days left between the last day of work and christmas itself and then have three days full of stuff to do. Since my husbands family is coming to us (instead of celebrating at his moms house), we spend a lot of time planning dinner(s), buying groceries and shopping for the last gifts, and then some time recharging from all the social activities. So yeah that's why I'm a bit late.

A week earlier
we visited my family, where we planned a potluck dinner and a nice fire outside where my brothers warmed some gluhwein. It was a nice opportunity to wear the tartan love jsk. A simple coord though, since going outside and walking on grass and such is always the case around my parents house. That's why the day after I took a picture of the coord I actually had in mind with it.

I know it might not be very original, but I just always wanted to wear a coord with a tartan print like this for christmas, I'm happy that I could! The bracelet I've assembled myself with some charms I bought of Ebay, the brooch is also from there and the bells in my hair are bought at the home/garden-store. I also wore the constellation tights with it that I bought from AliExpress (actually probably just TaoBao indie brand).

Later that week I joined multiple work/office-christmas-gatherings and time went by fast. I wore my 'Very Teddy Christmas' jsk to one of them in a casual manner again, so some days later it was time for a very costumey outfit with it. My 'apologies' for those purists out there, but yeah I would not wear this outside anyway (because slippers), and well I don't really do Halloween so some costumey outfit with Christmas sounds fine to me...because I can!
Actually I bought all the accessories at one place, which is a 'cheap' store that I began to love throughout the years because they sell lots of craft-related-items too (for you Dutchies, the store is called 'So-Low'). Some weeks back I came across them, and me and my husband bought these cute elf-slippers because they are just the most cutest christmassy thing I've seen in years and I love slippers <3. We've been wearing them everyday since XD must be really tacky to some but we fricking love it!
So then the actual christmas days came, I ordered a christmas sweater from Amazon.de a bit late but it got here just in time, I matched it witch some cute socks. I also tried my best to get some fancy tableware since we had the family coming here. As every year there were a lot of presents under the tree, I got some really nice things <3.
The second day of Christmas we did some cleaning and took a walk in the forest, because it was sunny outside (hooray!). I also watched the Monte Carlo christmas circus, it's been a while since I've seen it but we often would watch some TV around christmas and I remember loving to watch this...however we don't watch TV a lot anymore. Lucky enough it was still online to watch back.
Talking about circus, I also wore my last christmassy coords..well maybe not pure christmas but it was inspired a bit by those soldier nutcracker dolls and I think the Toy March jsk is pretty festive itself.
I made the mini hat myself, it is based on what the animals in the print wear. It was the first time wearing this blouse and I have to say it's very comfy. It's still hard to match the right hues of navy though, haha. Also the first time I wore these socks, they are quite different from the style I wear usually but I thought they work pretty well with the theme. Maybe it works better with a red blouse but I don't want to wear the same stuff all the time. I really still love this JSK though, made me happy to wear it again!

Yesterday we had our last fancy dinner (thank god ;) ) and we thought of some really weird stuff to cook. We made sushi from vegetables and other weird things. So the 'rice' was made from cauliflower and we made rolls with eggplant as a round base too but I'll spare you te detailed photos of the rest, it looked kinda grose :P .

And that was it for Christmas...thanks for reading, I hope you had a wonderful time yourself...I plan to make some end-of-the-year posts after this..hopefully in time but I really want enjoy some rest and recharge a bit now. See you again soon!

Christmas 2017 blog #2: Two december coords

Baby it's cold outside,  it sure is...it's snowing at the moment I'm writing this! The second christmas post this year is of course reserved for new lolita coords. This year I took my time to plan some things out, search for materials to craft new accessories and I'm pretty happy with what it ended up looking like.

A song for the starry sky

It's been a while since I've worn this jsk I made myself some years ago. I always matched it with black, so I definitely wanted something different. Then I found this chiffon with golden star/constellation print on it. It actually features the zodiac signs, I loved it! The combination of navy and beige + gold gives it almost a sort of sacred feel, which I think matches the christmas theme pretty well don't you think?.

Snowflake shimmer

We have some snowy days and what better opportunity could you get to wear Sugar Dream Dome. I wore a sax blouse from AP and my handmade bolero. It's also the first time I'm wearing these glitter otks from Btssb. Too bad they are so short though, there is very minimal stretch in it, but I love the shimmery effect and the flowy ribbon print of it. I wore some fuzzy legwarmers with it, since yes it is pretty cold, bought these ones some years ago at Kansai Airport with the last yens we carried. The rings and collar I made myself.

Some weeks ago I came across this snowflake in a cheap store and thought I could corporate it into a coord-accessory. So I made this headdress with it...too bad that the lace was tucked in when I took photos..so that's why I made some extra pics for the details. The snowflake can light up and the colored light changes slowly <3.

Well, I actually also made a matching pendant for a necklace, but the uv resin is still not cured after some weeks...we definitely lack some sunshine and I put a better uv-lamp on my christmas wishlist so I really hope to get and finish that during the holiday.
Do you have any new coords planned for the christmas festivities? I'd love to see them!

Catch-up Nov '17

Hi all!

Before I start out with my Christmas blogs (haha, yes they will be there!), I need to finish up stuff that happened last month first. Most of november I spend less time at the applied university I work for because of exam/grading weeks (but yeah more work in total, just from home).
And I also had my birthday at the start of November.
Some presents I got from my dear friend, a cute plush cockatiel you can clip on your shoulders
and a fancy supercute teacup and saucer from Bombay Duck ♥.
I actually turned 30 this year, can you believe it? I feel it is such a weird number. Like, 30 feels like real adult life starts. I guess it does, and year by year I feel a bit changed but maybe last year more than the last five years or so, possibly because I own a home and started driving lessons and got an actual serious job. Well life does change gradually, but it's just a number after all.
Anyway unto some more fun matters, because I spend more time at home, I also could put on whatever I like, so here are some lolita coordinations I wore,

Coords

Last time I said I wanted to play around more with existing pieces matching with the seasons, but some things didn't really work out in the end, so I ended up wearing some other things. New coords though!

So for the autumn elfs skirt (left) I had planned to wear brown with it, I even ordered a new bolero from Japan that looked like it would fit lolita fashion but was a lot cheaper.
Unfortunately it turned out to be a bit of a weird model and a size too large, didn't expect that so I ended up wearing cream tones this time. Initially I though it was a bit boring, and it certainly isn't really my style, but it does look nice after all. Simple but okay. I do feel that sometimes it is a bit hard to coordinate with a skirt instead of a jsk, but it's also nice to wear sometimes.
After this more classic outfit I really felt like wearing something sweet. I matched the Marshmallow Bunny jsk with an actual pyjama shirt, hihi. It's casual but I think the soft fleece, the color and the heart pattern really matched with the dress, so why not right?

I also made these ears with tiny pom-poms, I got the idea from a seller at Dream Masquerade Carnival (who had made them with multiple colors), unfortunately I forgot which shop it was ;_;. To my surprise it was actually super-easy to make, you only need a small iron wire that is sharp on the tip so you can push it through the pompoms!

The diamond-patterned socks I got two years ago for Christmas, finally found their purpose ^-^;

And lastly another coord with Cotton Candy Shop. It's such a comfy dress that you can wear for a long time and the print always makes me smile!

This time I paired it with a soft-yellow blouse, some wing-clips I got at Listen Flavor. A cute (Tangled) scrunchy from the Japanese Disney store and a hairpin I made myself a while ago.

Hanging on the star bag is a key I found at the second-hand store. When I put this photo on Facebook saying I wondered where it originated from, immediately some people started to search for it and it turned out to be a supercute toy castle called 'Starcastle', haha I totally would love to have one!

Wardrobe additions

In last post I told that I bought some things for myself for my birthday (haha, totally valid reason ;) ).
and they all got here in time so I can show them now.

The tartan dress I made myself over the pas few weeks. I wasn't too sure what to do with it. Originally I wanted a column of heart-shaped buttons on the top, but turned out that our habberdashery/accessory-selling-guy at the weekly market was going stop T_T which is sad because he always got more choice than our standard fabric shop. That is why lots of his things were already sold, so were the heart-shaped buttons. So I ordered some via Ebay, but that took a while to get here. After that, I already started making the dress, and then actually realized that the fabricpattern is maybe a bit too busy to put extra buttons on -_-; stupid me. Also, instead of buying a flock-iron-on-patch I just bought this velvet-ish fabric and cut a heart out of it, gotta think creative sometimes.

The black bag on the right I got from Loris (Taobao) . I've wanted a bigger black cute bag for some time to take to formal occasions, and also it matches the tartan dress!

The socks on the left are for a new coord , they have gold musical decoration on them. I also took a look at other things that Alice and the Pirates sell and I have to say I quite like their style!

So for a while I've been looking at Sugar Dream Dome from Angelic Pretty, I think this print is such a cute and nice wintery print. and Including the glitters, it turned into a must-have for me. However, I never totally liked either of the jsk's. The one with the fur collar top is very nice, but the big fur lower hem is just too much for my taste. The other jsk has a high-waist cut and my waist is just a lot lower than that. I opted for the skirt. I saw one on Lacemarket that was getting lower in price and so I waited until I thought it was a decent price and got it ^_^! Next to that is a blue blouse that I also got for a quite a cheap price and it turned out actually to be in new-state, got a bit lucky there!
So yeah you can imagine I can't wait to wear these ♥ you will probably see some coords with them soon!
